TMDAG are proud to announce the arrival of the newest members of the Trumpington Meadows family…a brand new Santa Sleigh and 2 yet to be named reindeers which are certain to become the stars of this years Christmas celebrations!

The sleigh and resplendent Father Christmas will now form the centrepiece of the FREE annual Trumpington Meadows Christmas Carols event which this year will be held on Saturday 11th December. Kicking off at the local centre at 5pm, there will be a Christmas Market with food vans and stalls and members of the City of Cambridge Brass band will perform Christmas music and also accompany carols for the whole community to join in led by St Michael & St Marys Parish Church. Expect a stilt walker, fairies, the Glamorous Glitter Bombs and a fun family atmosphere. If bad weather is predicted, then the bulk of the event including carols will take place inside the school.

Following on from last years covid safe “Santa on Tour” event and purchased with funding from TMDAG, South Trumpington Parish Meeting and the Cambridge City Council, this latest Christmas acquisition is intended to bring together the whole of Trumpington with additional planned visits to both the Trumpington Pavilion on Dec 5th & the Clay Farm Centre on Dec 18th, allowing many more residents to celebrate the festive period with a traditional Santa visit and supporting volunteers from TMDAG.

Our new bespoke sleigh was welcomed by the Trumpington Meadows Primary School who have also kindly offered to give it a new home when it arrived from North Wales it has since been painted by groups of local residents who cheerfully applied not one, not two but four coats of red and gold paint to give an impressive result suitable for Santa and his little helpers to parade in style.

This years “Santa on Tour” will start in Glebe Farm on the 11th Dec around 5pm followed by a procession along the main roads in Trumpington Meadows from 5.45pm where families are encouraged to come out and watch the drive by and then join Father Christmas in the local centre @ 7pm for carols, entertainment, food, mulled wine and mince pies as well as treats for the younger members of the community.
